Do I need to have a valid CSCS card to apply for a role with Costain?
No, we will provide with the training and support to get you through the relevant level of CSCS training you will require.

Do you pay for travel to site/work via expenses?
No, your contractual location is viewed as your base site. If you need to visit other sites or offices then this can be reclaimed via expenses.

Is the Christmas close down mandatory and does the holiday come out of the annual holiday allowance?
Yes, we offer a standard 25 days holiday plus the statutory eight days but the closure days do need to be taken.

Is the commitment to my personal development able to include a route to chartership and is it paid for?
Yes, absolutely, Costain prides itself in growing and developing their employees in whatever way they wish.

How long would an offer take to reach me?
We aim to have a soft copy contract to you within 48 hours of your verbal offer and a hard copy within five working days.

What are the criteria for subsistence payments?
There are obviously a number of qualifying factors which are covered in the subsistence policy but the radius to be considered for this allowance is 35 miles from site in a straight line.

What is Costain’s overtime policy?
The policy around overtime is based on your basic salary and site hours and will be discussed once an offer if made.

How often are pay reviews?
Pay reviews are held annually and are based on the bi-annual performance review held with your manager.

Are there opportunities to move to other sectors once I have joined?
Yes, we actively encourage employees to experience other sectors and try new skills, even supporting additional training if required.

What does the forward order book look like for Costain?
Costain has experienced exponential growth across all our sectors and is well positioned as we move towards 2020.
