Severn Trent Water's AMP5 investment programme is essential to delivering higher standards in the quality of water supplied, treatment of sewage and ensuring that the company's asset base and infrastructure are maintained.

Severn Trent Water awarded the Costain MWH partnership its AMP5 Framework in 2009 as a Design and Build Contract for up to ten years. This covers two Asset Management Plans for a co-located, integrated design and build model. It also provides an early stage opportunity to invest in people, training and equipment.

The £400 million contract involves the delivery of works for both clean and waste water solutions in the South and East of the Severn Trent region. Individual projects range in value from £200,000 to £30 million.

One of the most significant challenges facing Costain MWH is to deliver 20% efficiency savings on capital schemes. This demands a greater focus on innovative solutions and value engineering.

The Costain MWH approach will help improve design efficiency, reduce construction costs, improve the links across the supply chain, eliminate waste, and also drive innovation.
