Chartered Status For Sophie

Sophie May, a civil engineer working on the Costain Church
Village bypass project, has become chartered and now joins the
illustrious membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Sophie has also been nominated for the coveted Karen Burt
Memorial Award that is made annually to a woman engineer of high
calibre who has newly attained full corporate membership and
Chartered Engineer status through her relevant
institution.
Sophie, who lives in Caerphilly, joined Costain in 2003 having
graduated as a civil engineer from the University of Warwick.
During her time with Costain she has worked on the A34 Chieveley,
Sirhowy, Porth Relief Road, A2/A282 Dartford and is currently
managing the road works associated with the Church Village
bypass.
Barry Woodman, Project Manager for Costain, said: "Sophie has
worked extremely hard to achieve this prestigious award and
nomination and her efforts are acknowledged in her role at Church
Village not only in terms of her engineering skills but also the
support she has provided to schools and wider community."
Sophie added: "It has been hard work but I have received
tremendous support from the team at Costain and I am proud to have
achieved my chartered status and the nomination for the Karen Burt
Memorial Award."
