Costain Announces Formation Of New Natural Resources Division

19 November 2012

Costain, one of the UK’s leading engineering solutions providers, today announces the formation of a new Natural Resources operating division as part of the further transformation of the Group to align closely with its customers’ evolving requirements.

The new division will encompass the Water, Hydrocarbons & Chemicals, Nuclear Process and Waste sectors, combining the existing Energy & Process and Environment Divisions. The division will enable Costain to combine further its front end process engineering, project delivery, and operations capability into an integrated service for customers.

The Managing Director for the new division will be Mark Rogerson MBE. Mark joined Costain from Serco earlier this year and has been promoted from his previous role of Chief Development Officer. He has a track record of successfully managing and growing support service businesses.

The Natural Resources division will operate alongside the Infrastructure Division, which will now also include all Power Sector activities. The Infrastructure division will continue to be led by Managing Director Darren James.

In addition, Alan Kay, previously Managing Director of the Environment Division, and who has just completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School, will take on the new role of Group Technical & Operations Director on the Executive Board to drive innovation, operational and engineering excellence across the Group. Charles Sweeney, previously Managing Director of Energy & Process, has decided to pursue opportunities elsewhere after nine years with the Company.

Costain continues to perform well as a result of the implementation of its ‘Choosing Costain’ strategy, which focuses on providing lifecycle services in the design, delivery and maintenance of assets for major blue-chip customers.

Andrew Wyllie, Costain Group Chief Executive, said:

“As part of the planned transformation of Costain we have formed this new Natural Resources Division committed to delivering an innovative and integrated service across engineering consultancy, construction and operations and maintenance.

“I would like to thank Charles for his service to the Company and I look forward to working with Mark and Alan in their new roles.”
