Costain employees cycling to change young lives

30 August 2011

A group of nine employees from across the Costain Group recently signed up to take part in the Prince’s Trust annual cycle ride – Palace to Palace – helping to raise funds to change young lives.

The youth charity, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this month, helps young people move forward with their lives.  It provides practical and financial support, developing key work place skills such as confidence and motivation.  It works with 13-30 year olds who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or been in trouble with the law.

Palace to Palace is one of the ways in which the youth charity raises funds for its work and this popular bike ride takes cyclists along a 45 mile route between Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.  Last year 3,000 people took part raising over £250,000.

Catherine Warbrick, Corporate Responsibility Director, said of Costain’s involvement in the event:  "Palace to Palace is a great way for our employees to help raise funds for this worthwhile cause."

Prince’s Trust Partnership Manager, Marion Walker added:  "It’s so amazing to see how quickly Costain has come on board having recently become Patrons of the Trust and our construction and business Services Leadership Group."

Costain employees taking part are:

Ross Agnew
Andy Clarke
Ian Dixon
Steve Jakes
Emma Laverty
Dan Rennison
Amy Shuffleton
Catherine Warbrick
Tracey Wood
