Director Chosen For Key Role

11 January 2012

Costain’s Water Customer  Director has been invited to take a role in helping oversee an important document that could influence the future shape of Government policy towards the industry.

Matt Crabtree will sit on an Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Lifed Panel supervising the delivery of a review of the sector as part of the ICE’s ‘State of the Nation’ series of papers.  The document is due to be delivered in June 2012.

In asking him to take part, Andrew Crudginton, the ICE’s Head of Policy, commented that the Institution was "keen to ensure a balance of perspectives on the Group and felt that Costain’s extensive contracting experience in the sector would bring a lot to the project."

Matt’s commitment will involve attending steering group meetings plus evidentiary hearings, when Group members have a chance to interrogate experts from across the Sector. He will also review drafts of the report at various stages of the project.

The Group will be responsible for steering the direction of the project and assuring the quality of the outputs. “We’ll have an overview of the document and also have a ‘project management’ role to ensure that it is produced in time,” he added.

“These documents go into the public domain and the aspiration is that they go to Government and influencers.” As a respected professional body, it can be expected that the report will carry some weight with ministers and officials.

The invitation to Matt to take part is a further indicator of Costain’s reputation in the water sector.
