The Evaporator D Project at Sellafield, with Costain as main contractor, has recorded 500,000 working man-hours without a first aid incident.

That achievement is underlined given that a first aid incident includes even the most minor accident such as a plaster to cover a scratch.

The Costain team runs a safety bonus scheme that benefits local charities and it is the workforce which will choose the charity to receive the financial reward for this achievement.

The project is progressing well with over 200 in-house designers and a large site team that is involved with construction of the reinforced concrete structure and the temporary bridge that will enable the major elements of the project to be delivered by sea.
