Costain’s Energy & Process Division has surpassed four million man hours without a lost time incident.

This achievement is of major significance especially given the portfolio of challenging and complex projects that the division is currently undertaking. From oil & gas (UK and overseas), to nuclear process and power, Costain’s approach to safety, health and the environment has been unremitting.

John Meakin, Costain Energy & Process Operations Director said: “This is a fantastic achievement that has been delivered through embedding a behavioural based safety culture across the organisation and implementing a continuous programme of front line supervision training and coaching.” He added: “I would like to take the opportunity to thank our teams working on projects across the UK and overseas for delivering this milestone.” 

Charles Sweeney, Costain Energy & Process Managing Director, added: “Safety, health and protection of the environment is at the top of our agenda – in everything we do: conceptual, basic and detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up, operation, maintenance and decommissioning. I am really pleased to see us achieve and celebrate this milestone whilst guarding against complacency”.
