Senior appointments as ClerkMaxwell targets further growth

7 October 2011

Costain Company, ClerkMaxwell, has made two significant appointments to bolster its service offering and growth plans for its business streams.

Experienced offshore oil & gas industry figures Martin Wills and Peter Lowe have joined the Company to fulfil specific specialist services and subsea roles respectively – and both have a remit to broaden ClerkMaxwell's service provision to clients.

Martin, who has joined the business as Head of Specialist Services has 25 years' experience in front end and operational support roles, both with consultancies and major operators. Most recently he was in a process management role at Maersk Oil and Gas in Denmark.

"Our essential commitment is to maintain and enhance the provision of a high-quality differentiating services to our clients – we're looking to bring in new people to augment our existing capabilities," he says.

"We’re committed to adding value to our services to clients by engaging closely with them to help achieve the optimum operational and commercial gains of their project, rather than just providing a one-dimensional service.

"It's important to have a real understanding of their project objectives from the outset, and to be prepared to challenge them constructively during that early dialogue. By doing so we are able to deploy all our experience, expertise and knowledge on their behalf to ensure we are doing all we can to help them achieve those objectives.

"My own professional principles very much reflect those of ClerkMaxwell, and that's why I'm pleased to be part of the organisation. Those leading the Company are engineers first and foremost – they have a real understanding of the front-line work and that gives us the firmest of foundations for growth."

Peter, who previously worked in a subsea project management role with Shell, has 25 years' subsea experience, primarily in design and execution and latterly in front end engineering and design (FEED).

"My priority is to use my background in project management and engineering to help build a new capability within ClerkMaxwell," says Peter, who has become Head of Subsea and Pipelines.

"ClerkMaxwell's subsea project support has to date focused primarily on feasibility and concept work. We are now extending that quality service offering into the next phase of support: FEED work as well as project management and execution.

"Becoming part of Costain, which is committed to increasing its activity in upstream sectors, not only makes that a very viable proposition, but an exciting new prospect. Our strategy is to grow our capability within ClerkMaxwell while pursuing project opportunities, all the time supported by the resources and commitment of Costain."

Aberdeen-based ClerkMaxwell delivers multi-discipline engineering, project management and asset support services to super majors and independent operators in the oil and gas industry.

ClerkMaxwell’s service portfolio includes feasibility & conceptual engineering; front end engineering & design; detailed design & procurement; subsea & pipelines engineering and project management; facilities & operations support and specialist services.

Together, Costain and ClerkMaxwell have access to over 500 engineers and project managers, and have an industry leading front end capability of 100 highly qualified and experienced engineers.
