The Message On Power

4 October 2010

The Costain Group is taking its UK power industry message to a wider audience of stakeholders.

On October 12 and 13, Martin Land, Power Sector Director, is presenting on low carbon investment plans at the Energy Forum in London, along with key clients, investors and policy makers.  On October 21, Colin Duff, Costain Contracts Director, leads a team supporting a Narec* event, The Future of Offshore Wind, in Durham, and at the end of November Terry Tomlinson, General Manager (front-end solutions) presents a paper at the Carbon Capture & Storage Forum in London.

Martin Land said: "There is an increasing level of activity in the power market with investors and clients progressing their plans for new and replacement assets, especially in low carbon solutions. The Gravity Base Foundation for offshore wind, launched over the past few weeks, has seen a lot of interest from developers and clients, demonstrating that we can bring our extensive knowledge in complex civil engineering to benefit the challenges of moving to deeper water."

Speaking of other areas of future technology, Martin said: "We have leading edge offerings linked to carbon abatement that can contribute massively to a cleaner fossil future - we are very excited at the reception our technology is receiving from clients and equipment vendor partners."

The immediate challenge in the UK is to maintain the security of supply, reduce carbon emissions towards the 2020 targets, and improve affordability, to maintain competiveness and reduce fuel poverty.  Costain is set to play a big part in powering the UK to a low carbon future.
