Tyneside Test For CEO

18 September 2013

Andrew Wyllie, Costain Group Chief Executive, joined almost 56,000 people including World and Olympic champion Mo Farah, to take to the streets of Tyneside for the Great North Run.

Andrew, who was running to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care charity, recorded a time of 1 hour, 50 minutes and 56 seconds.

The race is expected to raise approximately £24million and has become an annual event in the North East since 1981 when 12,000 competitors took part.

Andrew said: “It is a great thrill to take part in the world’s largest half marathon.  To record a personal best time of 1 hour, 50 minutes and 56 seconds in challenging weather conditions is proof of what can be achieved with a bit of training and perseverance.

“I continue to be a long term supporter of Marie Curie Cancer Care as I think they do an outstanding job providing invaluable support when it is needed most.”
