Costain is one of the best known and most admired brands in the country….and that’s official. The UK’s Most Admired Companies league table for 2014 has just been published and Costain has moved to 52nd place from last year’s 55th ahead of such well known names as Royal Dutch Shell, Legal and General, J Sainsbury, Banco Santander, London Stock Exchange, Vodafone, Lloyds Banking Group, Barclays, Tesco, Marks & Spencer, Serco and Rio Tinto.
Our asset management tool MARIO gives clients a cost-effective and accurate picture of the condition of their infrastructure assets. The developed technology allows rapid and detailed surveying of infrastructure assets, is cheaper and safer than current alternatives and allows direct links to the BIM (building information modelling) environment.
A-one+, of which Costain is part, together with its partner Highway Resource Solutions, won the Product Innovation of the Year for its Intellicone system. The system works by transmitting an alarm signal when an errant vehicle has hit a cone, giving road workers vital seconds to take life-saving evasive action.
Costain Group PLC is a Platinum Big Tick company, a new banding in the BITC Index for 2013 designed to challenge leading companies with ‘stretch questions’ on topics such as their long-term planning and the unique contribution their business can make to create transformational change and a sustainable economy.
We won 30 RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) awards in 2015 including two Order of Distinctions, RoSPA’s highest accolade presented to organisations that have received a minimum of 15 consecutive Gold awards, and five Gold medals, awards presented to organisations that have achieved a minimum of five consecutive Gold awards.
In 2014 we picked up no fewer than 17 awards as our project teams up and down the country went about creating or improving the built environment while minimising inconvenience and disruption to local residents and facility users. Our efforts to improve the industry’s image were rewarded with seven Gold, three Silver and seven Bronze awards.
Costain received two major awards at the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Global Awards 2015. Costain won the Industry Project of the Year for Perenco’s Dimlington Terminal Freon Replacement Project. Stuart Campbell, a Project Director who joined Costain as a graduate, won Industry Leader of the Year, while Costain, together with Tetronics International, were Highly Commended for their work on Plasma Vitrification in both the Energy Project and Research Project of the Year Awards.The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) is the global professional organisation for people with relevant experience or an interest in chemical engineering.
