About Peter
Following a twenty-year career in the defence sector, originally as an engineer, Peter Mill made the leap into consultancy more than a decade ago. Since 2015, he has been able to bring his extensive project management experience to the development and deployment of the consultancy capability at Costain. As discipline lead for Costain’s portfolio, programme & project management (P3M) consultancy capability, Peter is passionate about fostering a professional community of practice and is responsible for ensuring the continued development of the Group’s consultancy teams in line with client needs and business demand. Peter is a member of the Association for Project Management and the Association of Cost Engineers.
Peter on the planning and programme assurance
An advocate of the profession, Peter encourages others to use project controls to improve future outcomes rather than just use it as an evaluation practice. Peter is keen to dispel the view that project controls professionals just review, analyse and advise. Acknowledging this forms part of the role, the former aerodynamicist believes Costain’s success within the area is a result of a perfect blend of future shaping consultancy reinforced by decades of delivering successful complex programmes.
