Costain 150 Challenge Launch

Costain 150 Challenge Launch

Author: Catherine Warbrick, Corporate Responsibility Director

Following the launch of the Costain 150 Challenge on 2 June, it has been fantastic to hear some of the many fund raising ideas my colleagues from across the business are planning. The level of enthusiasm and willingness to get involved is fantastic and I am sure this will be the driving force behind us raising £1m.

You may be wondering why the four charities, the British Heart Foundation, Macmillan Cancer Support, The Prince's Trust and Samaritans were chosen? This answer is simple. Most of us in one way or another have been affected by some of the problems that these charities are trying to solve, whether it be heart issues, cancer, depression or youth unemployment. We often state that Costain Cares and 2015 is a brilliant opportunity to prove it.

£1m will go a long way to supporting these four amazing charities and it is a privilege to be engaging them and building what I hope will be four successful relationships.

The celebration of Costain’s 150th anniversary is a great opportunity for us to leave a legacy, just as Richard Costain and his colleagues did over a century ago. It is not hard to find pieces of Costain’s history today in the built environment and our core business will continue to add to this, but socially the legacy we can leave behind by raising £1m will be something we at Costain can all be equally as proud of.
