ADGAS Contract Awarded to Costain Abu Dhabi

1 September 2010

Costain Abu Dhabi Company W.L.L has been recently awarded a contract by Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company Limited (ADGAS).

The contract's scope comprises procurement, construction and commissioning of the Flare Handling Emission Reduction (FHER) project which will reduce flaring and emissions from the existing LNG plant on Das Island.

ADGAS is implementing the recovery and utilization of waste gas currently flared in the gas refinery complex.  The waste gases will be recovered from Train 1, 2 and 3 of the plant and will be fed to the pipeline between the booster compressor (BC) and feed gas compressor (FGC).

The recovery and utilization of waste gases will reduce the natural gas consumption in the plant and save greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.  The project is first of its kind in the UAE and is being submitted to the United Nations under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

The project is scheduled to be completed within nine months.

Alastair Smith, General Manager, commented: "The award of this project from ADGAS is significant and gives us an opportunity to build a further relationship with our clients by delivering high quality and improved performance on our projects".
