A team from Costain’s Heathrow Airport project will take part in a fund raising event for breast cancer care.
 
The ‘Costain Cares’ team, consisting of eight ladies from Heathrow Airport’s Aviation Section, and head office, takes part in the ‘Pink Ribbonwalk’ on Saturday 17 May, at Hampton Court Palace.
 
Mandy Martin, Commercial Director, said: “We were motivated to take part when our colleague, Helen Furlong, inspired us to get fit and healthy whilst also raising funds for a worthwhile charity. There is a choice of either a 10 mile or 20 mile route but we all decided on the latter option and to really go for it. We expect to do the walk in roughly eight to ten hours.”
 
The ‘Pink Ribbonwalk’ started ten years ago but this will be the first time at Hampton Court Palace.  The 20 mile route starts in the Palace gardens, taking the fundraisers along the Thames Path to Teddington Lock through Richmond and Bushy Parks then back to Hampton Court Palace. 
 
Mandy said: “Anybody is welcome to join our ‘Costain Cares’ team - we even have some non-Costain members on board so please feel free to join us… the more the merrier, it's going to be a great day! Of course, this is not just about fun and fitness and the sponsorship raised so far has been fantastic.”

The Costain Group will also make a contribution to the charity, and Catherine Warbrick, Corporate Responsibility Director, said: “The Group is pleased to be able to support our employee’s efforts. Supporting both local charities and our people is an integral part of Costain Cares.  The Costain Community Chest was established to enable the Group to make small donations to support our employee’s fundraising efforts.”

The support for the team’s fundraising task has been overwhelming.  Mandy said: “I have been so humbled and surprised by the donations coming in and my own personal target has moved up twice already to £1,000.00.  So as a group, and with Costain’s contribution, this is a very positive result indeed. We are not there yet though so any donations would be much appreciated.”

The ‘Costain Cares’ team members are: Mandy Martin, Helen Furlong, Divya Gupta, Donna Rose, Ann Gout, Laura Fisher, Gemma Small, Karin Jones, Nicola Brown and Loren Reardon.
