Batsetswe Motsumi, Senior Commercial Manager for Costain, currently working as part of the integrated delivery team on the A14 upgrade, has been appointed as vice president for the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES). He now joins the presidential chain and is set to become CICES president in September 2023. Batsetswe joined the institution as a graduate member in 2003, and went on to become chair of CICES Yorkshire and serve on Council of Management. He is also an Examiner and CPD Auditor.

Batsetswe Motsumi said: “I am honoured to be appointed as CICES Vice President following on from my previous service within CICES Regions and Council of Management. This appointment comes with the responsibility of representing CICES within the industry with pride and conviction to shine the light on the contribution of the civil engineering surveying profession in improving people’s lives. I am grateful to Costain for giving me the time and support to give back to the CICES in this capacity.”

CICES CEO Ann Allen MBE commented: “I’m delighted Batsetswe has been appointed vice president. He’s a dedicated member of the institution and immensely passionate about the profession of civil engineering surveying.” Mr Motsumi will follow senior vice president Andrew Evans, who takes on the presidency from Stephen Slessor in February 2022.
