Considerate Costain Takes Gold

1 May 2012

Costain has again made its mark in the annual Considerate Constructors Scheme awards, with four sites operated by the Company, either itself or as part of a joint venture or consortium, taking Gold Awards.

These included awards for two separate parts of the Cleaner Seas for Sussex scheme for client Southern Water as part of the 4Delivery team – the project’s Infrastructure and Peacehaven Wastewater Treatment Works. It also struck gold on the A40 Penblewin to Slebech Park Improvement project and the M53 Bidston Moss Viaduct Strengthening job.

Silver Awards went to Newbury Parkway; Prendergast Vale School, Lewisham; Bond Street Station Upgrade (Costain Laing O’Rourke jv) and the A1 Black Cat to Sandy Street Lighting Renewals (Lafarge Costain jv).

Rounding off the merit list were Bronze Awards for Arkwright Street and Longley Lane sites on the Greater Manchester Waste project; Pontypridd Town Centre Regeneration; Port Talbot PDR Phase 2; Prendergast Hilly Fields school, Lewisham; Fawkham WSW (4Delivery); M1 J10-13 Improvement Scheme (Costain-Carillion jv); Thameslink Farringdon Station (Costain Laing O’Rourke jv) and Crossrail Royal Oak Tunnel Portal (Costain Skanska jv).

From over 8,500 eligible sites, only the highest scoring 7.5% were presented with National Site Awards under the Considerate Constructors Scheme. Registered sites were monitored and scored on their level of consideration, and an independent panel reviewed all eligible sites to decide whether they had reached the standard required to win an award.
