Costain, the smart infrastructure solutions company, has announced the appointment of Ian Parker to the executive board as managing director of its transportation division.

A chartered civil engineer, Ian joined Costain in 2018 and previously held the position of sector director, rail and airports.

In his new role, Ian will be responsible for the rail, highways and airports sectors.

Speaking of the appointment, Ian Parker said, “Our aim is to keep the nation moving through the development of smart infrastructure solutions. By combining all our transportation services into a single division, we will strengthen our ability to meet the needs of our clients in an increasingly integrated and multi-modal world.

“Moreover, at a time when transport is so high on the political agenda in Britain, it is evident that smart thinking and sustainable, long term solutions will be needed to meet the country’s evolving transport needs and I believe that Costain has a leading role to play in shaping this future.”

Ian has a breadth of experience in the construction and infrastructure sector spanning 30 years. He has held a series of senior positions in international consultancy and project management businesses where he was accountable for delivering large-scale infrastructure programmes and leading corporate functions such as marketing, business development, communications and health and safety in FTSE organisations.
