Costain Appoints Strategic Management Director

11 April 2011

Costain has appointed Ross Agnew as Strategic Management Director reporting to Alex Vaughan, the Corporate Development Director.

Ross joined Costain in 2010 from Volker Rail where he was Project Director on the Skanska Volker Rail JV, an £80million DLR project in London.  Before this Ross worked for First Engineering, now Babcock Rail, and Tubelines on numerous rail projects, first as a Project Manager and then as a Regional Manager.

In his new role Ross will be responsible for the development and tactical implementation of the Group strategy, by providing support to the sector and Managing Directors, ensuring the maximization of commercial opportunities across the Group and delivery of the 'Choosing Costain' strategy.

“I am looking forward to this exciting role in what is a challenging market place and supporting the Sector Directors and the Managing Directors to implement their strategies to deliver our 'Choosing Costain' strategy.

“My role means I am responsible for developing the Group strategy and helping implement the tactical strategy in order to deliver those goals,” said Agnew.

Ross is an economics graduate from the University of Greenwich and has a master’s degree in project management from the University of Manchester.  He is also a member of the Association for Project Management.

Commenting on the appointment, Alex Vaughan said: “This is a very exciting time in Costain for Ross to be appointed to this role. Ross has been closely involved in developing the broadened Rail Sector strategy, and he will now enable us to drive and accelerate our strategy across all sectors of the business.”
