Costain Awarded Edinburgh To Glasgow Main Line Electrification Contract

Costain, one of the UK’s leading engineering solution providers, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the contract to electrify the Edinburgh Waverly- Glasgow Queen Street Railway as part of an Alliance to deliver the £650m Edinburgh to Glasgow Improvement Plan (EGIP).

The contract commences immediately developing in-depth plans for the electrification engineering work-scope worth an initial £75m which will start in June this year. The works will comprise electrification of the main Edinburgh-Glasgow route, via Falkirk High, including route clearance works at Winchburgh Tunnel as well as rail infrastructure works at Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh Waverley Stations and extensions to intermediate platforms at Croy, Falkirk High, Polmont and Linlithgo.
