Costain Group Retains UK's Top Contractor Award
24 August 2009
Costain has been named Major Contractor of the Year by New Civil Engineer magazine for 2009. The previous year Costain also beat all rivals to take the prestigious Award.
New Civil Engineer magazine stated: "Costain has had a massive year - it's as simple as that. Years of positioning itself in the waste industry came home big-style with its £397million Greater Manchester waste PFI contract win in May, and the company's order book now stands at a record £2.4billion."
The New Civil Engineer Award is the second major national media recognition for Costain this year. The Company won the Supreme Award at the Construction News 2009 Quality Awards for the best overall performance which involved being shortlisted six times and winning two categories - Training and Corporate Social Responsibility.
New Civil Engineer also stated in this week's magazine: "Awards are nothing new to the modern Costain. Management Today rates it as "one of the most admired companies in the UK". In the Considerate Constructors Scheme it has won 15 awards, including three Gold Awards. And it is now the first firm to retain a NCE/CECA Contractor of the Year award."
