Costain, one of the UK's leading construction and engineering solutions providers, is pleased to announce that, as part of a joint venture with AMEC and Jacobs Engineering Group Inc, the Company has been awarded a framework contract by Magnox Limited (“Magnox”).

Under the terms of the contract, the joint venture will retrieve and process both wet and solid intermediate level radioactive waste across all the Magnox sites in the UK. The scope of services provided by the joint venture partners will include the design, construction, commissioning and operation of facilities that retrieve and package the radioactive waste, together with the de-contamination of associated facilities.

Andrew Wyllie, Chief Executive of Costain, said:

The UK’s nuclear decommissioning programme is of major strategic importance and this is a long-term contract with clear and visible revenue streams.
