Costain To Exhibit At Skills London 2013

18 November 2013

Costain will again be exhibiting at the Skills London 2013 careers show and encouraging young people to consider a career in the construction and engineering industry.

The event, which takes place on November 22-23 at London’s Excel Arena, is expected to attract over 30,000 visitors and promises to offer students and visitors a hands-on experience to learn about careers, jobs and training opportunities across London.

The aim of the event, which is the biggest jobs and careers event of the year, is to motivate young people between the ages of 15-24 to think about future career opportunities.

Caroline Towner, Costain’s Apprentice Manager, will be at the event and available to talk to people about a career with the Company.

Costain, through Costain Cares, is committed to investing in young people by providing career opportunities and helping the industry address a long-term skills shortage.

A lack of skills has now pushed youth unemployment above 1 million. According to the Department of Work and Pensions, between April and June 2013, there were 1.09 million young people not in work, education or training, roughly equivalent to 15% of people under the age of 25.

Commenting on the event, Caroline said: “Skills London 2013 is an ideal opportunity to talk to many companies, not just in construction but other sectors, about future career prospects and what companies are looking for with regard to young talent.”
