Excellence Recognised At Costain Awards
8 February 2013
Costain celebrated last night the achievements and outstanding performance of its people from across the Group at its Achieving Excellence Awards 2012.
Held at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead, the event was hosted by Jonathan Stebbings from Olivier Mythodrama, a company which specialises in using the works of Shakespeare to highlight the qualities of leadership. Attendees heard how, through exceptional performance, Costain’s employees galvanised those around them and enhanced the Company’s reputation for operational excellence.
This year, a special award, Costain’s Brand Award, was given to the Bond Street Team (Crossrail) C411 for its work in enhancing the Costain brand while working on Europe’s biggest rail infrastructure project. This complex project also happens to be in the heart of the UK’s busiest shopping district and the team was applauded for its community engagement, dedication and high level of customer service.
Chief Executive, Andrew Wyllie, said: “We are delighted to be recognising the outstanding performances of individuals and teams with these Costain Achieving Excellence Awards 2012. We are Meeting National Needs by engineering excellence in every facet of our operations.
"These Awards graphically illustrate that we achieve just that. In total, we received 1,300 nominations from Costain people, highlighting the efforts and achievements of skilled individuals at all levels in the Company. In terms of innovation, our people have developed new ways of operating which have saved time, increased profit and improved performance. In the area of safety, our efforts continue to reduce accidents and ensure that people go home from work safe and sound. Other categories showcase similar successes. This Company is extremely proud of its people and these Awards demonstrate why. Costain would not exist without its people and would not be such a respected brand without the type of outstanding performance which we now have a chance to applaud.”
