Fundraising At Farringdon

31 January 2012

Costain Laing O’Rourke’s Joint Venture at Farringdon Station Project has donated over £6,125 to charity.

Some of the charities who have benefited from the 2011 fundraising are the Osteopathic Centre for Children, City of London Road Safety, Global Generation, St Bartholomew’s Hospital and Foyer Federation.

The monies are raised whilst promoting ‘near miss reporting’, an integral part of any project.  When an operative reports a ‘near miss’, their name is entered into a draw to win a £50 gift voucher and £5 is also donated to charity.  The draw takes place during the regular SHE committee meetings and the winner then decides on the local charity for the next quarter.

Mick Franks, Project SHE Manager, commented: “The reporting of our near misses has given benefits to the site in preventing accidents by identifying trends from the near misses that have been raised.”

Jane Riddiford, Executive Director at Global Generation, commented: “A big thank you from Global Generation, your generous donation will go towards developing our new Skip Garden site in Kings Cross – where each year we involve children and young people in growing and selling local food.  They learn about themselves, the local community and the planet.”

The Farringdon Project is committed to being active in the local community by supporting local charities.
