NEC4, the next evolution of the NEC suite of contracts, has been sculpted from 20 years of user feedback and will become available in June 2017 in a move to inspire and enable project collaboration across the UK and internationally.

Speaking at the Society of Construction Law Conference, the NEC Contract Board’s Matthew Garratt (Commercial Director with Costain) revealed that NEC4 will be made available for the very first time at the largest ever gathering of the NEC Users’ Group Annual Seminar on June 22nd.

An evolution of NEC3, the full NEC4 suite has been built from user and industry best practice learnings and has been specially designed to support innovation through digital advances and encourage collaboration across the world.

Delivering real project value and enabling best practices in procurement, NEC4 recognises the need for contract administration, terminology and risk management to evolve. This will enable all disciplines across a flexible industry to procure, manage and deliver truly collaborative projects.

The creation of NEC4 stands as testament to the longevity and immeasurable impact of the NEC3 suite of contracts over the last two decades. The suite’s versatility has seen it widely embraced across the building, service and supply sectors, enabling long-term partnerships between NEC and the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) and the Association for Project Management (APM).

NEC3 has been critical to countless high-profile and iconic international projects including the London 2012 Olympics, Crossrail, Christchurch International Airport and the Halley VI British Antarctic Survey research station. The use of NEC3 and its ongoing training provision across all disciplines will continue to be fully supported alongside the introduction of NEC4 training, events and support services.

NEC4 will be officially made available to purchase following the June 22nd NEC Annual Users’ Group Seminar, to be held at the etc.venues, County Hall, London.
