Poster Campaign Highlights Safety
24 June 2014
Safety has been high on the timetable at a school close to a major Costain highways project.
St Paul’s Primary and Junior School situated next to Costain’s Hammersmith Flyover (HFO) contract, invited team members to discuss safety on construction sites. The invitation also gave Costain team members an opportunity to enthuse the youngsters about engineering as a potential career.
Community Relations Manager, Graham Dean, said: “As the school is next door to our project the children have become familiar with the site traffic and workers and we needed to highlight to them the potential dangers.”
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Ambassadors, Chris Crabtree and Mark Addison visited the school to talk to the children about safety and to explain what the Company is doing on site.
“Chris and Mark during their visit challenged the pupils to come up with a poster campaign on transport and safety, with the winners receiving a £10 WHSmith voucher,” Graham said. “In addition, Transport for London has agreed that the winning posters will be put up on the site hoardings.”
The winning posters were created by Hannan (Year 6), Oscar (Year 4), Angelina (Year 2) and Arlo (Reception).
