Promoting Cycle Safety At Bond Street

9 December 2014

The Costain Skanska joint venture (CSJV) delivering the new Bond Street Crossrail station in Mayfair, London has produced two short films to improve safety on the capital’s roads.

The films were produced by the CSJV Bond Street Logistics team and provide the visual perspective of a cyclist and a lorry driver.

The footage is being used to encourage safer practices by the project’s delivery drivers and cyclists. The films have been shown in London’s Cycle Forum and at a recent ’Exchanging Places’ event in Mayfair, which also gives cyclists the opportunity to sit in the cab of a lorry.

Claire Carr, CSJV Project Manager, said: “While we have provided opportunities for cyclists to sit in the cab of a truck and experience what drivers can and can’t see, these videos allow a much more realistic view. We hope they will help make the streets of London safer.”

The Considerate Constructors Scheme valued this safety initiative as an innovation, awarding the project the maximum 10 points in the ‘securing everyone’s Safety’ category at a recent visit which saw the project attain 46 out of 50.
