Costain has been named as one of the top companies in the UK to work for by leading apprentice job review website, RateMyApprenticeship (RMA).

RMA recently released its ‘Top School Leaver Employers’ Table’ which ranked the best 60 companies in the country providing career opportunities to young people. Costain ranked in the top 30 companies based on reviews submitted by the people who matter, the apprentices.

Launched in September 2013, RateMyApprenticeship is an advice portal covering career development and educational options open to school leavers, raising their awareness of industries and the application process.

The site aims to provide young people with relevant and engaging peer-to-peer information about Apprenticeships and School Leaver Programmes, as well as other school leaver opportunities such as Sponsored Degree Programmes, Gap Year Programmes, Traineeships and work.

This information sits alongside case studies and thousands of student-written reviews, all written anonymously by apprentice employees about apprentice employers.

Potential employees can read the reviews to get a unique insight into what it's really like to do specific jobs at particular companies. The information includes what the day-to-day of the job really involves, the hours of work, salary information, advice about applications and interviews, and what the best and worst thing is about the company and the job being applied for.

Caroline Towner, Costain’s Apprenticeship Manager, said: “We are delighted that our apprentices rate us so highly, and to reach such a high rating after our first participation in the survey is fantastic. This sort of feedback is crucial in helping us improve the overall experience for our apprentices, not only those who are currently on our programme, but future ones as well.”
