Costain reinforced its status as one of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s top suppliers with a strong presence at this year’s NDA Estate Supply Chain event at Event City, Manchester.

Organised jointly by the NDA and its Site Licence Companies (SLCs), the event celebrates the achievements of the UK’s nuclear supply chain and promotes greater collaboration and innovation. Since its launch five years ago, it has become one of the largest nuclear decommissioning supplier days in the world and the biggest in Europe. This year’s event was the busiest so far, attracting more than 1500 delegates from as far afield as Canada, Russia, China and Japan.

Costain was one of 270 exhibitors at the event, joining SMEs (Small and Medium Sized Enterprises), contractors, SLCs and learning institutions to showcase the range of skills, services and technologies on offer within the UK supply chain. The Company was also shortlisted for several of this year’s NDA Estate Supply Chain Awards, which recognise suppliers who have successfully worked on successful collaborative projects or deployed innovative technology. Costain is also one of the companies comprising the Supply Chain Quality Event Review Team at Sellafield, which won Highly Commended in the awards’ Collaboration category.

Tony Davies, Nuclear Process - Business Development Director, was one of the Costain team present. He said: “The event provided the opportunity to highlight Costain’s role as a key player in the decommissioning sector and build relationships with companies providing cutting edge innovations to help manage the UK’s nuclear legacy.”

Laura Blackburn, Costain’s Nuclear Supply Chain Manager, was attending the event for the first time.
