Increasing gas processing capacity and extending field lives
We worked with ENI Pakistan to deliver a third gas processing train at their Bhit facility to process gas from their new Badhra field. As part of the same framework we worked to deliver wellhead compression for their original Bhit field.

Costain trusted to deliver client’s largest ever purchase order
Bhit facility contributes up to 33% of Pakistan’s natural gas supply
Ten wells fitted with compressor packages, each weighing 215 ton
As part of the Badhra development at ENI Pakistan’s Bhit gas processing facility, Costain was engaged to provide the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Programme Management (EPCm) for a new gas processing train. This included the corrosion inhibition at the wellhead and a pig receiver/launcher as well as the main gas processing systems including:
- slug catcher
- molecular sieve dehydration
- export compression
- control system upgrades
We worked collaboratively with ENI throughout the project and acted as a single point of responsibility from FEED right through to commissioning.
As part of our EPC term services agreement with ENI Pakistan, we completed a concept study for wellhead compression options for their Bhit fields. This study was progressed to an EPC contract with Costain where we were responsible for the design, procurement and construction of all ten wellhead compressor units (4 x 3.3MW & 6 x 1.9MW gas turbine driven reciprocating compressors) costing in the region of $40M. Safety was key to this project; as well as the usual safety reviews, Costain performed detailed environmental impact assessments to reduce or eliminate many environmental hazards.
