Innovation
Our innovative approach, using Building Information Modelling (BIM), delivered a cost saving of £1 million in deploying the new assets.
Costain is working as part of a consortium with Galliford Try and Atkins to deliver a £200 million contract to upgrade and expand Liverpool Wastewater Treatment Works Asset Management Period [AMP] 5. Early on, we recognised the only way the project would be successful was to deliver it as one team.
We used BIM to come up with a space-saving stacked design that allows the plant to fit inside the dock, minimising the impact on the adjacent world heritage site. The innovative design will also enable the plant to be decommissioned and taken down at the end of the asset life without damaging the dock.
The River Mersey has always been so important to the people of Liverpool and it’s reassuring to know generations will now benefit from its cleaner water.
