Thermal efficiency gains

Reduction in harmful emissions from exhaust

Noise generation reduced

Excellent HSE performance throughout

In order to meet future predicted gas demands, and new more stringent emissions and noise level requirements, National Grid commissioned a project for the installation of additional compression facilities at existing compressor stations in Nether Kellet, Cambridge, Churchover and Alrewas.

Compressor supply

We engineered, procured, constructed and commissioned a total of four gas turbine driven compressor trains. We also supplied utilities and ancillary equipment including: nitrogen seal gas generation, control system, NTS tie-ins, fire & gas detection, fuel gas heating, ESD system and all associated buildings.

Churchover & Alrewas compressor station upgrades

The 2 x 13.4 MW ISO rated gas turbine driven compressors provided at Churchover and Alrewas were each capable of generating 75 bar of pressure and delivering 48 MMSCFD. The upgrade provided a 35% boost to thermal efficiency as well as a 20% reduction in exhaust emissions while meeting noise constraints of 35 dB(A) within 400m.
