Costain participated in Gastech 2012 Exhibition and Conference which was recently held at the ExCeL Centre in London. This global event, which is held every 18 months, is celebrating its 40th year, with over 10,000 industry professionals attending. It was last held in London in 1973.

The conference was opened by the Secretary of State for Energy & Climate Change, the Rt. Hon. Edward Davey. His ministerial key note speech focused on the role that gas has to play in providing security of supply for Britain’s future power generation.

A number of Costain’s key customers attended the conference included ADNOC, BG Group, Centrica, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, E.ON, ExxonMobil, Shell, Total and QatarGas with attendees travelling from as far afield as Asia, Africa, Middle East, Russia and the US.

The conference provided opportunity for Costain to promote its capabilities in gas processing, nitrogen rejection and floating LNG. Delegates were able to meet with the Costain team at its exhibition stand to find out more about the company’s track record, skills and experience in front end engineering and technology.

Throughout the week a number of technical papers were delivered at ‘Centres of Technical Excellence’ by industry leading experts providing insight into the latest developments in gas technology. Jorge Arizmendi-Sanchez, a Senior Process Engineer from Costain’s Front End Solutions team presented a well-received paper titled ‘Efficient Nitrogen Removal from LNG’ in a session chaired by Adrian Finn, Costain’s Front End Solutions Technology Manager.

Costain also hosted a dinner attended by a number of key customers, industry stakeholders and government trade and industry representatives.
Frank Millar, Sector Director Hydrocarbons & Chemicals said, “Gastech provided an ideal platform for Costain to promote our leading capabilities in gas technology and engage with a number of our key customers and significant industry players.”

Terry Tomlinson, Costain’s Front End Solutions General Manager added, “Our long track record of engineering excellence and expertise throughout the gas chain including cryogenic technology makes Gastech an important event to demonstrate our innovative solutions, such as liquefaction of natural gas on floating facilities.”
