Meet Amy, a project engineering manager in our defence and nuclear energy sector.

With a background in electrical engineering, she's supporting the customer to deliver high value, complex infrastructure projects on their operating site.

What led you to your career at Costain?

"I started my career as an electrical engineering apprentice, where I gained my engineering qualifications alongside gaining industry experience. After completing my four-year apprenticeship, I decided to take a role as a project engineer working with the nuclear energy sector, where I gained a breath of new skills and knowledge.

I then took the opportunity to work as an electrical, controls and instrumentation engineer on a new nuclear project to enhance my technical skills, alongside obtaining a first-class degree in Power Systems Engineering. From there I took the leap to work overseas as a project engineer in California within the construction industry working on a new cancer hospital.

On my return to the UK, I took the opportunity to become an engineering manager to gain management experience alongside applying my engineering experience, then I joined Costain as a framework design manager in the water sector then recently returned to the nuclear energy industry as a project engineer manager."
