Costain, the engineering solutions provider, is pleased to announce that it has been appointed by Sellafield Ltd to their Decommissioning Delivery Partnership, as one of four entities that will deliver a predicted £500m of decommissioning and asset care work on the Sellafield site until 2025. The ten-year Framework also has ‘headroom’ of up to £1.5bn, allowing the Customer flexibility in prioritising and delivering the work.
The work will help deliver solutions to some of the world’s most complex decommissioning challenges.
The Framework will also benefit the local community with local jobs, apprenticeships and work for local SMEs.
Works will commence in February 2016.
Darren James, Costain Managing Director for Infrastructure, commented:
"Safe, secure and cost-effective clean-up at Sellafield is a National priority, and we are delighted to secure a place on this important framework.
“The award builds on Costain’s long history of successful delivery at Sellafield, including one of the UK’s largest decommissioning projects – Sellafield’s new Evaporator, and demonstrates the importance to Costain of long-term strategic partnerships with our Customers, and our ability to deliver best-in-class outcomes.”
