Maximising impact to local communities
At Costain, we’ve been improving people’s lives for over 150 years. We have considerable experience of working collaboratively with local stakeholders and clients to maximise social value delivery for major UK infrastructure projects.
We deliver social, economic and environmental value to society, not only through the infrastructure solutions we offer, but also via our wider investments in local communities, enabled by digital technology, to maximise the positive impact that we have on the lives of local people.

- In 2020, 43% of our spend was with SMEs
- £211K donated to UK charitable causes in 2020
The Thames Tideway Tunnel is a £3.8 billion, 25 kilometre super sewer being built under the River Thames from the London Borough of Ealing in the west, to the London Borough of Newham in the east.
The Thames Tideway Tunnel is a major new sewer, urgently needed to protect the River Thames from pollution and to modernise London’s Victorian sewerage network for the 21st century.
During the London Power Tunnels project, we invested time and money into the local area by helping to engage school children into STEM subjects, creating a much-loved centrepiece for the local community and much more.
