- Rohan O'Grady joins Costain and SCS JV to spearhead the construction of HS2's London tunnels.
Costain, the UK infrastructure specialist, has appointed Rohan O’Grady into its transportation division where he will take on the leadership of the Skanska Costain STRABAG joint venture.
As Managing Director of SCS JV, Rohan will be responsible for leading the delivery of the London tunnels section of HS2 during a critical phase of the programme. He will ensure SCS JV maintains the highest levels of safety and productivity, to support HS2's programme reset and play a key role in the most significant addition to the rail network in over a century.
With more than 20 years’ experience in complex engineering, project execution, alliance delivery and executive leadership, Rohan brings a wealth of expertise in building and leading high-performing teams across a range of sectors, including infrastructure, energy and mining.
He joins Costain from CPB Contractors, the construction and infrastructure arm of Australian-based CIMIC Group, specialising in complex, large-scale, and critical infrastructure projects. Here, Rohan held a number of roles including the last four years as Alliance Director for the NEWest Alliance, a partnership of engineering and construction companies responsible for delivering A$2.9bn of critical upgrades to Perth’s METRONET passenger railway, including the 17.5km Thornlie-Cockburn Link project and the 14.5km Yanchep Rail Extension.
Prior to this, Rohan was Chief Operating Officer at Mineral Resources Limited and BGC Contracting. He also spent 13 years at Leighton Contractors, where he was Project Director on its Gorgon project for Chevron, one of the world's largest LNG projects and the largest single resource project in Australia's history.

Rohan joins Costain following a period of significant success in the rail sector. Earlier this year, Costain was selected by Transport for London (TfL) to join its Infrastructure Improvement Framework, a multi-discipline framework which will unlock major infrastructure upgrades across the capital. This includes upgrade works at South Kensington tube station and works to enable TfL’s step-free access programme.
