A2/M2 Connected Corridor Testbed wins Project of the Year award

Costain, the smart infrastructure solutions company, is proud to have won Project of the Year for the A2/M2 Connected Corridor Testbed technology project at the 2019 Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) awards.

The collaborative efforts between Highways England, Department for Transport, Transport for London (TfL) and Kent County Council enabled the design, installation and implementation of one of the UK’s first pilot connected vehicle corridors on a live road.

Costain was responsible for delivering roadside technology using data supplied by Transport for London, Highways England and Kent County Council and a technology testbed for Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS).  This flagship contract will help to promote the UK as a market leader in Connected and Autonomous Vehicle (CAV) and C-ITS technology.

Speaking on the recognition, chief engineer Kum Wah Choy said, “The pioneering A2/M2 Connected Corridor Testbed project demonstrates how Costain is using digital solutions to shape the UK’s transportation infrastructure. This award recognition is testament to all those involved in what has been truly successful collaborative project.”
