Health Kiosk For Project
19 January 2015
The Costain team at the M1 Smart Motorway Project can now carry out its own health MOTs at work, thanks to a new, state-of-the-art health kiosk in the project offices.
The kiosk enables project staff and visitors to keep an eye on their state of health by checking blood pressure, heart rate, weight, and hydration levels. They can also look at their BMI (body mass index) to find out if they are at a healthy weight, and check their body fat content, which shows how much of the body is made up of fatty tissue as opposed to muscle, bone and lean tissue.
Staff have taken a healthy interest in the kiosk since it was installed, said Rebecca Gray, Receptionist and Health & Wellbeing Champion. “The kiosk has been very popular. Anyone with concerns or someone just wanting peace of mind can now have a health check in a convenient, private way. It’s also made health and wellbeing a real talking point, and motivated many people to make changes to improve their overall health. Several have gone on diets with great results!”
Staff have round-the-clock access to the machine, which also allows them to set up accounts to help them monitor their health and track progress. They can also obtain a print-out of their results. Leaflets containing useful health information are also provided.
Added Rebecca: “We’re probably a much healthier bunch now!”
